Lou Pendergrast-Mathieson

I live in beautiful Takapuna. I've been working with glass since gaining a degree in Applied Arts (glass major), and post grad Teaching Diploma. I teach adults and children glass casting through community education at Mairangi Art Centre and Uxbridge Arts and Culture in Howick.

My technique is lost wax (cire purdue) and my work is mostly simple monolithic disc pieces or tall forms .This involves carving and pattern making of natural forms at the wax stage and using the 3D see through aspect that only glass can do. My passion is glass from the 1920's-30's and I make figurines and car mascots .

My work is held in corporate /private collections in NZ and overseas. I have been included in the prestigious Ranamok Australasian glass exhibition 5 times and 14 disc pieces went to the Shanghai Sheraton Hotel in recent times. I have been exhibiting at Sculpture on Shore for many years.
